Crisis rooms are room types used to control and mitigate consequences of natural, technogenic and social disasters. It can be a permanent room at a government facility or a temporary room to address a specific ongoing situation.
In both cases, the main purpose of a crisis room is to connect multiple departments/organizations to one place, enabling real-time situation awareness for analysis, information sharing and decision making. It is often equipped with workplaces occupied by delegates from different external services, for instance the police, firefighters, emergency medical services, utilities, media, etc. Each delegate creates an overview picture from their department and serves as a 2-way contact point for appointed crisis teams within their organization.
It is also common for permanent crisis rooms to have several spaces with different purposes in close proximity, which are the crisis room itself, a briefing hall, dedicated teams spaces. All those spaces can be connected to a unified video network and information can be shared accordingly.
