A network operations center (NOC) is the most common type of control room environments. Its main purpose is to create an environment where technicians manage different aspects of a network or other systems, supervising the network operation of an organization and handling incoming issues.
A typical NOC consists of one video wall, one or more additional screens and a number of operator desks located in a way to allow the display of content on video walls in a room.
The main video wall is displaying a systems overview, alert messages, incidents and activities. General information such as news and weather channels, the corporate TV streams and announcements is usually shown in a corner of the video wall or on side screens.
NOC technicians occupying a certain desk usually have several displays to cover network segments/activities available for this desk.
